She passed away after fighting cancer for ten years. Handler was born into the family of a Reform Judaism family. Her father was Jewish. Handler lived in a great community with a wonderful upbringing. When she was only 19, she made the decision to relocate in Los Angeles and pursue acting. Handler was obliged to be an actress in order to live. Handler's storytelling ability was discovered when she reached the age of twenty-one. Handler then decided to make a full-time commitment in stand-up comedy. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend, HBO and Comedy Central have all broadcasted her stand-up shows. The show was announced as the host of The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in the year 2010. It was only the second woman to ever host VMAs, after Roseanne Bar.
