Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is known for her acclaimed performances in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter has won numerous awards, including the Oscar for her role in the film Piano. Her acting career began in Broadway through a myriad of Broadway and Off Broadway projects. Passionate about acting since her primary school years, she was Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. After suffering from the mumps, she became deaf to one side of her ear. The deafness was not enough to stop her desire to pursue a career as an actress. In college she studied theatre before moving in New York City in pursuit of her dreams. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut when she had a chance meeting in the company of Beth Henley, a playwright. They collaborated in Broadway Crimes of the Heart. After that, she moved from New York to Los Angeles and tried to get the roles in films. In Swing Shift, she landed her first role as a character support. In the three decades since then Holly Hunter has been on various TV series and movies. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is also the recipient of an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
